Quote of the week

In an age where transparency is the norm, what matters perhaps more than your wealth is your reputation. In an era of collaborative consumption, where we are increasingly sharing, it’s more important to be trustworthy than to be rich.”
Ajaz Ahmed

Maximizing your strengths that add value.

Standing out!

Being memorable after the the world gets to know who are you, what you do and how you do it.

You must take control of your presence online

In this days and age when Google is the prime source of information, you must definitely have a presence online that represents you in a professional and effective way. The best way to do that is by being proactive and taking control of what information appears about you on Google.

So you may wonder how? Well, for starters the easiest thing you could do is to register on LinkedIn (the world’s largest professional network with over 80 million members) and create your profile.

If you are new to LinkedIn, I strongly suggest you to check out this short video. You will get a great introduction to the concept in just couple minutes.

If you want, check out my LinkedIn profile if you need ideas on how to do it. Just make sure you invest some time on making it as informative and well developed as possible. And if you want to connect with me, please go ahead! I am looking forward to connect with you and help you expand your network.

By the way, here I share with you the link to the Online Identity Calculator, a cool tool created by Reach Communications Consulting that measures and make sense of your Google results. Check it out!

Is your calendar matching your priorities?

In a previous post I have shared a video by Tom Peters in which he talks about the “Brand You” concept, which basically states that in such a competitive labour market worldwide you can no longer expect to survive by just being an anonymous bureaucrat in a department, but that you really have to stand for something and think about your areas of distinction.

Since he posted that video, he has added more fantastic videos in his YouTube channel. However, there is one that has had a strong impact on me: You are your calendar

In this video he talks about managing the only one asset that you have: YOUR TIME.

Enjoy!

I particularly love this statement:

“The calendar never, ever lies. If you say something is a priority, then it must be quantitatively reflective, obviously, dramatically and unequivocally in the way you spend your time”

So … can you relate with what he says? Is your calendar matching your priorities? If that is not the case, l suggest you to take action immediately and start investing your time in actions and activities that will get you closer to accomplishing your goals.

Also, I suggest you to learn and choose any of these three simple productivity techniques to use your time in the most effective and productive way. Trust me, you will be glad you did.

Fly high!

Tom Peters on the Brand You concept

Back in 1997, Tom Peters started a revolution with his article published in Fast Company Magazine: The Brand Called You.

That article is as relevant today as it was then. Probably even more, so I strongly recommend you to read it if you haven’t yet.

In this video, Tom Peters shares more of his views on the concept he created and explains why taking control of your own career is not an option, but it is a must.

By the way, pay special attention to the remarks he shares made by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Muhammad Yunus. Great stuff!

Enjoy!
